Our 2018 Theme Speaker: Connie Goodbread
Gimme Some of That Good News!
Times are hard (they have always been hard in one way or another.) We are feeling overwhelmed and at times scared. We look around and see injustice, violence and hatred playing out everywhere. We fear for ourselves, our children and the children of the world. It is far too easy for us to go down the road of negativity - us vs. them - tribalism. But what’s the good news? The theme this year will be the naming of our good news - the good news (gospel) of Unitarian Universalism. The good news of communities founded in Covenant and struggling with that lifetime of work. The good news of communities practicing shared ministry. The good news of what Unitarian Universalism is called to be and how lucky we are to be part of it. The good news of partnership. The good news of the tools that are at our disposal. The good news that wraps its ams around us and holds us in its embrace. We are the people of love - a love that knows no bounds. That love is not merely for those who agree with us. That love is universal and that’s good news. “What the world needs now is love, sweet love. That’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.” Gimme some of that good news!
