Our 2018 Sunset Speaker: Rev. Joanna Crawford
In Johanna Spyri's novel, Heidi, she describes Heidi's awe at seeing a sunset on the mountains for the first time: "'Everything is on fire! All the rocks are burning! Look, look! Now they have turned all rose color!...Oh, now they are turning grey! Now all the color has died away. It's all gone.’ And Heidi sat down on the ground looking as full of distress as if everything had really come to an end."
Her happiness is restored upon learning that the sunset will happen again the next day, and the day after that. Join us as we celebrate the evening sunsets and the good news of our faith that can refill us with hope and joy, even when it seems the colors have faded away.
Rev. Joanna Fontaine Crawford is the minister at Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church in Cedar Park, TX. A lifelong Unitarian Universalist, she finds inspiration again and again through the writings of the people of this faith, and our mission to love the hell out of this world.
